In a sort of spiritual successor to its fan-favorite racing game Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, Electronic Arts is returning to its roots with Need for Speed: Most Wanted. And you might say that, this time around, the game will be a hybrid vehicle combining a lot of popular elements from EA's entire series, including the tuner car culture of Need for Speed: Underground.
In fact, while Most Wanted may be a spiritual successor to Hot Pursuit, it is more like a true sequel to Underground. In addition to the tuner car culture mentioned above, which allows the player to modify their vehicle not just for overall performance, but also for competing against more specialized classes, Most Wanted will have many other gameplay features designed around the world of illicit street racing. One might even say that the point of Most Wanted is to make the illegal street racing of Underground seem even more illegal to the player.
Headlining this new style is the Rap Sheet, which is a growing record of the player's record-breaking times, police-evasion achievements and how well they performed in Need for Speed racing and skill challenges. Also, the Blacklist will track the players rise to fame among the best of the best in street racing, with your goal of course being to leave them all in the dust!
In your race to put your opponents and law enforcement behind you, players will use traffic, shortcuts, and destructible environments to slow their opponents. The world is your playground, use it to your advantage or fall behind, as you race through urban and industrial environments and more. Once again, the benefits of a lead foot cannot be denied and the double-edged possibilities of the world around you will always take a backseat to the player's skill and ability to handle their car no matter what comes their way. Aside from performance tuning your car, Need for Speed: Most Wanted will also allow players to customize their ride's look, which then can then show-off using the games high-definition graphics, real-time lighting effects and other visual enhancements. Of course, if you got too tired of staring at your own car, you can also show it off online and take-in the beauty of other racers' cars with Xbox Live.
Need for Speed: Most Wanted marks a milestone in EA's long-standing series' history. The classic fast-paced, behind-the-wheel action of the series, brought together once again with the world of street racing and the added challenge of police evasion makes the game perfect for all sorts of gamers, fans of illicit street racing or not. The challenges that have long been a staple for the series, including the return of fan-favorite Be The Cop mode, give the game an appeal that players looking for an extra challenge can't turn down. Being the latest chapter in the Need for Speed series and the first for the next generation, in all its high-definition glory and with the worldwide access of online play, makes Need for Speed: Most Wanted just that.
