In an attempt to build sales of the upcoming February issue of EGM, the magazine's web counterpart 1UP.com has revealed one of the rumors Quartermann reveals in the new issue. According to EGM, Microsoft is already hard at work on a first party sequel for the next Xbox console. Reportedly the game was originally in the works for the Xbox 360, but has since been shifted to Microsoft's next console.
The real question is, does this signal an early release for the next Xbox, or is Microsoft simply trying to line up a huge launch title for the system now? Considering the fact that the Xbox 360 was released in 2005, four years after the launch of the original Xbox, a 2009 launch (next year!) of Microsoft's next console isn't out of the question. There are a lot of potential candidates for the game, from Halo to Perfect Dark, any of which could potentially make for a huge system seller.
